The stunning beauty of Ghughudanga Tal Road

Ghughudanga has become a popular tourist spot in Niamatpur Upazila of Naogaon district mainly because of the three-kilometre Tal Road.

The road is a breathtaking sight when seen from afar, as it cuts through green crop fields, flanked as it is by thousands of palmyra palm trees that reach for the sky.

Every day, hundreds of women, men, children (including teenagers), come to the area to view the road as news of its scenic beauty has spread beyond Ghughudanga.

It is especially in the afternoon that the green square becomes lively with visitors, who make it even more popular by sharing photos and videos on social media.

The Ghughudanga Tal Road connects Kapashtia Bazar with Niamatpur Upazila Sadar via Mahadevpur, Chhatra and Shibpur areas.

The palm trees beside the road were planted by then UP chairman Sadhan Chandra Majumdar, who is now the country’s food minister, in 1986.

Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumdar inaugurated the fair as the chief guest on Saturday afternoon.

Naogaon Deputy Commissioner Khalid Mehdi Hasan, Police Superintendent Muhammad Rashidul Haque, Niamatpur Upazila Executive Officer Farooq Sufian and Niamatpur Upazila Parishad Chairman Farid Ahmed spoke on the occasion. Agricultural personality Shykh Siraj also attended the inauguration as a special guest.
