It is imperative that we continue to remain vigilant against Covid-19

The Covid-19 pandemic has affected nations large and small in ways that no one could have predicted, but today, as the Bangladeshi government lowers the age for registration for the vaccine to 18, thereby including the entire adult population to be eligible, it seems that we are slowly headed towards a future that is free of Covid-19 once and for all.

The government’s vaccination campaign, despite a rocky start, has been carried out with much aplomb so far, with millions of people across the nation now vaccinated against the virus, with millions more having registered to be vaccinated shortly.

Vaccination

For this, the authorities in charge and the health care professionals responsible for the storage and dissemination of the vaccine definitely deserve applause.

But this is merely one amongst many steps that we must take as a nation in order to secure our nation’s health against Covid-19, especially with several variants cropping up which could potentially evolve beyond the vaccine’s capabilities to fight against them.

Not to mention, due to a lack of awareness or access to the internet, there are still many in our nation who have yet to register and receive the vaccine, and we must constantly strive to ensure that every citizen is provided the means to be vaccinated as soon as possible.

As such, it is imperative that we continue to remain vigilant against Covid-19 and its variants and ensure that health guidelines such as the use of masks and social distancing remain in place. The health of our nation must always come first.
